Once you sign up for CVR World Cup Training, you will complete an online survey designed by Hunter Allen, to determine the best training plan for you. Next, you’ll receive a specially-tailored, 8-week cycling/fitness program, that includes everything you need to do, step-by-step, in a very specific order. The entire 8-week program was written by Hunter, and is administered by Hunter and his Peaks Coaching Group.

The 8-week training program is designed to help you…

  • Boost your energy and functional threshold power (FTP)
  • Increase your strength and power for short anaerobic hard efforts
  • Develop more endurance and stamina for long rides

My brother-in-law purchased this training program for me for Christmas. I am so grateful he did because this training program has lifted my cycling to another level. Having only been cycling for less than three years, I am a newbie to the sport with a lot to learn. This training has pushed me beyond what I thought I was capable of, yet it is laid out so that I am not overly stressed by the volume of work (I chose the Intermediate plan). Basically, it is very balanced. That coupled with the group rides and races ensures that you are pushing as hard as necessary to see real, tangible gains. Already I am putting out more power. I feel stronger and fitter. I can go longer and harder than before. On a group ride this weekend, I was feeling so much stronger and at the point where I would normally be out of breath, I was able to hold a normal conversation. Plus, I completed my longest ride yet—75km. Awesome. With this program, I keep knocking down personal barriers and achieving Peak Performance medals in Training Peaks. A huge shoutout to Hunter Allen…keep up the good work.

1 month into the CVR Training Challenge and all I can say is WOW! After a couple weeks break in December, I joined this program and have already seen incredible results. The Peaks Coaching Group has backed up their “Shortcut to fast” claim! I have achieved in 1 month a 12% increase in FTP following this plan. I cannot wait to see what the next month brings!

I got 2nd overall in the Chico Stage Race.  I won the Paskenta Road Race, third in the Time Trial on a bike I had never ridden before, and placed second in the overall!  Then placed 3rd in a sprint, out of a five man break at the Copperopolis RR.  I felt competitive all year.  Those plans work!

Yesterday I had my first debut road race after a long time and I just wanted to tell you of the massive improvement I made during a few months.  I wasn’t even very prepared for the race, because it was just a B race.  In the final sprint I defeated a rider from the Alpecin Gran Fondo Team.  Wasn’t possible without your TP.

Dear Hunter Allen: During the first and second weeks of June I participated in the 75-79 USA Cycling Masters Road Nationals in Augusta and the 75-79 NSGA Nationals in Birmingham.  USAC: RR 3rd place; Crit 4th place, NSGA: 5K TT 13th, 20K RR 4th, 40K RR 4th,.  This was the result of the Peaks Coaching Group Training plans (1.3 Winter Seasonal, 1.4 Spring Seasonal, and 2.7 Power to Peak Event).  I have never been so well prepared.  Thank you.

I have been able to keep up for the most part on rides with Cat 1 – Cat 3 riders that I have never been able to hang on for.  Needless to say, I am very pleased with the results of the training.  Your plans are a great product and really helped me get to the next level.

I’ve just got back from my trip (Raid Pyrennes) which was fantastic.  Your Peak plan made it that much more enjoyable as I was one of the fitter riders in the group!

The training was right on point that allowed me to compete at a high level.  I finished and rode with a group of 4 who led from start to finish.  There were 2 triathletes who pushed the pace and I know they had the endurance.  The pace was high but I was able to manage my energy efforts.  Just finished doing a recovery ride and keeping my food intake high.  I surprised myself on the hills and I think it had to do with the VO2 max hill intervals.  Thank you.

Riding the CVR World Cup in Paris was something that I never dreamed I would do.   The ability to to meet those that you race against every week on the virtual road was amazing. The friendships created, the energy expended and the laughs that the whole group had was something that I will not forget. The organizer of the event was fault from the whole team, making you feel at home straight from the off and creating a perfect atmosphere to both enjoy yourself and compete.  Finally the ability to share the experience with friends and family through the online interaction ensured that not only was I further motived but the entire family got to see the fruition of all the hard work I had put in on the bike.  I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that made it a special weekend in Paris, great people creating a great competition both sides of the camera!

During the program you will be ranked using a sophisticated algorithm that will take into account your baseline fitness, your compliance rate in the CVR group rides, as well as practice races over the 8 weeks, PLUS several other factors.

All along the way, Hunter and his team will review your training results, and determine your ranking (which you can view at any time). Why do we rank your training performance? To be able to select riders that have trained well, have been active participants in the CVR community, and are near to the same fitness level (what we call a Performance Band). This ranking is NOT based on who has the highest FTP or max power at the end of the 8 weeks.
